Passport on a Plate: A Caribbean Odyssey
Global Connections hosted its Passport on a Plate: A Caribbean Odyssey gala dinner on March 1, 2015. Nearly 200 guests enjoyed a Caribbean experience. Dinner featured renowned local chef Duke Gastiger of Spats Café and chefs from a dozen other establishments, including the Elk Creek Café, Harrison’s, Benjamin’s Catering, Cooking with Grace, Fasta & Ravioli Co., The Village at Penn State, Gemelli Bakers, The Nittany Lion Inn, Penn State Altoona, and The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel.
Katie O’Toole has been an anchor in the State College community for a couple of decades, serving as a media personality, educator, and community volunteer.
Katie is an adjunct instructor in Penn State’s College of Communications where she has taught since receiving her PhD in Mass Communications in 2010. Previously, she worked for 24 years at Penn State Public Broadcasting where she won a regional Emmy Award for her work as a producer, writer, and on-air host for a children’s current events series. She also produced and hosted political affairs programming, call-in programs on topical issues, a high school quiz show, and cooking shows. Katie received her BA degree in journalism and MA in Media Studies from Penn State.
